Sponsorship - New Partners for West Ham, Southampton, Swiss Cup
February 8, 2013
West Ham, Alpari Partner
Alpari Limited is the latest sponsor of West Ham United F.C.
Based in London, the global foreign exchange and precious metals broker will lend its name to the West Stand at the Boleyn Ground, now known as the Alpari Stand for at least the next three years.
“Alpari and West Ham United share core values such as drive, commitment and passion for what we do,” David Stuart, COO of Alpari (UK), said in a statement.
As part of the partnership, Alpari will get advertising spots on match-day television as well as in West Ham’s programs and on its website. Special prize draws and events will also follow from Friday’s deal.
Saints Sign Official Timekeeper
Southampton F.C. welcomes Eterna as the club’s official timekeeper and latest global brand partner.
Thursday’s deal gives the luxury Swiss watchmakers a new clock at St Mary’s as well as branding on the in-game big screen, registering the time of every goal scored by the Saints.
“Their stated goal is to achieve ‘excellence in all things’ and as pioneers in watchmaking they have created a series of firsts over the years; from patenting the first wrist alarm clock to inventing the ball-bearing mounted rotor system that became the industry standard. Eterna is a company that is always seeking a better way – just like Southampton,” Saints head of sales Andrew Markham said in a statement.
David Vallata, Vice President at Eterna, added: “This partnership provides us with a global platform to increase awareness of the Eterna brand and gives Southampton and its fans a world-class timekeeping partner to mark the exciting moments in the seasons ahead.”
Hong Kong Hopes for Sponsors
Leaders of the Hong Kong Football Association are looking for more than $2.5 million in sponsorship to help launch a new premier league.
"The new money could be used as prize money for the league and cup competitions, and if everything works out we may also be able to give subsidies to clubs to strengthen their management, sports science support as well as youth and senior squad training,” HKFA vice-chairman Steven Lo Kit-sing was quoted Wednesday by The South China Morning Post, adding that discussions are already ongoing with multiple firms.
"These are not small companies,” he added, “but global corporations that have a strong financial background.”
Hong Kong is hoping to launch the premier league late next year.
Jaguar Sponsors Swiss Cup
Jaguar will join the Swiss Cup as its presenting sponsor for the rest of the season.
The luxury British automobile brand will enjoy both advertising exposure and hospitality benefits throughout the remaining rounds of Switzerland’s premier club football competition.
Quarterfinals are scheduled for Feb. 27 with the finals to follow May 20 in Bern.
