BT Builds Network for National Football Center

The English Football Association unveils BT as the first major partner for its new National Football Centre in St. George’s Park.

The global telecommunications giant will install a high-speed voice and data network at the Burton-upon-Trent development as part of the five-year, multi-million pound agreement.

“St. George’s Park will be at the very centre of coach education and young player development and for The FA to be delivering its philosophy and agenda it needs the very best technology infrastructure and facilities,” SGP chairman David Sheepshanks said in a statement.

“We look forward to working closely with BT.”

According to Sheepshanks, buildings are quickly taking shape at the National Football Center with construction slated to wrap up in summer 2012.

Upwards of one million visitors are expected to use the BT network there over the course of the contract. Sir Trevor Brooking, the FA's director of football development, is pictured here.

“We are very proud to support St. George’s Park and to help The FA develop the next generation of sporting greats,” said BT Business managing director Graham Sutherland.

“With the best communications technology at the heart of this project, English football can build a competitive advantage on the field.”

Man Utd Spreads Reach Into Pakistan

A Pakistani telecom company is the newest sponsor of Manchester United.

As the club’s official mobile partner in the Middle Eastern country, Zong will deliver video of every goal scored through the next three seasons as well as other news, interviews and exclusive content.

“It is a relatively young company but has ambitions to be one of the major players in the country,” Man Utd commercial director Richard Arnold said in a statement.

“Partnering with United will give them high visibility, as well as helping the club to communicate directly with millions of our supporters there."

To be exact, the club estimates there are 10 million Man Utd fans in Pakistan.

Zong advertising director Rizwan Akhter added: "This partnership is one-of-a-kind coming from Pakistan and the initiative that Zong has taken to team up with a giant like Manchester United will only lead to prosperity, growth and triumph."

“We share a great synergy with PUMA,” said club president Hans-Joachim Watzke.

“We both have brand values that extend beyond simply performance on the pitch, and our work together in coming seasons will reflect this.”

Man Utd, AC Milan Embrace OptimaSport

"Never before have we been able to utilise this type of information in order to provide key indicators on sporting performance, recovery and overtraining".

OptimaSport makes devices such as heart rate belts and pulse wave velocity assessors aimed at accurately measuring sport performance.

AC Milan players will stay in NH hotels for another season.
